We have been representing our class as we decorated posters and visited the other classes in the school to tell everyone about our ‘Great Big Pudsey Day’.
We have been recognsing and sorting coins. To be successful we have been looking carefully at the colour, size and shape of the coins. We have sorted and matched and some of us counted how many 2p and how many 5p we had altoghther.
Thank you for your donations that have already begun to arrive. We have collected the coins in our money boxes that we designed and made.
In Health and Wellbeing we are learning that all children have the right to be happy, healthy, safe and cared for so…
the children in P1 and P1/2 decided they would like to help support Children in Need by planning ‘A Great Big Pudsey Day’ for their class on Friday 15th November.
We would love it if you could help us 🙂
We are learning to recognise coins to £2 and we want to help Children in Need.
To help, please donate any loose change you have. Every little helps. We will come to your class next week to collect any donations you may have.
We will fill the Pudsey Bears with coins. How many Pudsey Bears do you think we will manage to fill?
Thank you so much for your help from Primary 1 and Primary 1/2
Many thanks for the slips that have already been returned. Please can I ask that all returns are handed in no later than Wednesday as we will be getting together to create an appointment timetable on that day. Thanks again.
It is great when the children have so many thoughts about how they would like to learn that it makes it difficult to choose! Thanks Primary 1 for your enthusiasm, your chat and for sharing your ideas.
We have started this term talking about the rights of children. We learned that all children have the right to be healthy, happy, safe and cared for.
Rights Respecting Russell – Article 24 – Best Health
We decided to plan ‘A Great Big Pudsey Day’ to support Children in Need in our class on November 15th. We shared lots of ideas about what we can do to help and support children who need our help. More details to follow 🙂
We are learning to read, match and identify ‘c’ and ‘k’ this week.
We are learning to blend sounds together to make words.
During story time can you find any ‘c’/’k’ sounds? Where are they – the beginning, middle or end of a word? Can you read any words that have ‘c/k’ in them?
We are learning to tell a story using a story map, actions and pictures.
We are learning a new story over the next few weeks called ‘The Enormous Pumpkin’ and we have started making the biggest pumpkin you have ever seen!
Reading book skills
We are learning to read and find common words and we are leaning to use the initial sound clue to read words as we point to them.
Keep practising the words and sounds in your yellow books. These word lists really help children develop fluency when reading and build confidence to tackle new text.
Numeracy
We have just started looking at addition but will continue this over the next few weeks.
We have continued to work on counting on and back and adding on 1 more or 1 less.
We are really looking forward to sharing our learning with you this term.
As the weather has been feeling very Autumnal can children please bring a jacket to school for outdoor play and learning.
PE in the hall will continue to be on a Monday after break time. Everyone is getting really good at changing quickly and are working hard at keeping their clothes in one pile :-).
Have a go at making a word building game at home. Use milk bottle lids and write the sounds we have learned on the lids. With the lids you can try to build words.
Numeracy
We have been really focussing in on the number before/one less than… this week along with counting back.
Have a go as you walk to school!
Use the paint the square game. Ask someone at home to give you a number and you paint the number that comes before.
Talk for Writing – Jungle story telling
We will be telling our own stories this week substituting the animals in ‘The Little Brown Monkey’ with our own choice of animals.
We will practise adding detail to draw the animals in our own story.
Reading
No new books this week but keep having fun with books. We will collect reading books on Wednesday and give out new books after the holidays.
Keep practising the sight words and sounds in your yellow books 🙂
