I’ll look at using a different format next week in case some families can’t open this. If you have the tech skills to help me out and are looking for a project, please get in touch!

Our Learning Blog

Well this is Term 4 with a difference!
We hope you had a super safe holiday and we are looking forward to catching up with you and seeing your photos of all of our learning together. Mrs Mutch, Mrs Clark and I have got a few activities lined up for this week and we will post them on the classroom as classwork.
Again, this is new to us all and we know that you will need to make it all fit around your home life and work commitments SO please do not worry if you are unable to carry out activities suggested. They are only suggestions and no activity is compulsory. Just have fun!
Thanks for registering this morning and putting your ‘Y’ in Tuesday 14th column. Great stuff and off we go!
If you are able to, please make sure that you register between 1100 and 12 noon on our P1 Google Classroom. Do this by putting a ‘Y’ beside your name each day on the attendance sheet. This sheet is in our P1 Google Classroom under the tab ‘Classwork’ Many thanks 🙂
The children made a great job of our writing job on Wednesday. We made posters!
We have been investigating why it is important to wash our hand well with soap!

The children noticed that the pepper sprung back from the soapy fingers! Great experimenting everyone.
Thank goodness for Mr Stewart and P7 who came along to visit us today and show us how to log into Google Classroom. It was lovely to get little messages from the children. It’s all change but we all love learning in Primary 1.

Just to let you all know our rescheduled Library visit for next week (Monday 23rd March) has been cancelled. Many thanks to the lovely parents who were going to come along and accompany us. Next time 🙂
Phonics

This week we are learning to the sound’ck’. Encourage your child to say only one sound – not ‘c’ and ‘k’. We found lots of words that had the sound’ck’ and we used our knowledge of rime to help us. We made lists of words that ended with – ack, eck, ick, ock, uck.
Have fun at home! Can you think of any words that we did not find today?
Have a go of these games.
Reading

This week to help us understand what we read, we are learning to make a picture in our head as we read or listen to the words of a text, story or poem. We are learning that the picture must match closely to the words we read.
Handwriting
When you practise at home – say it out loud to aid pencil control.
Your pencil needs to follow the words and directions you say our loud .
Writing

This week we are writing a story based on ‘The Dream’. We are going to work hard on ‘Who’ is in the story and ‘What’ happens.
We are learning to
Numeracy
We are learning to solve subtraction problems using materials or counting back.
We are learning place value of numbers.
Subtraction Train – click on the take away wagon to practise
Minus Mission – shoot down the correct spaceship
Flash Interactive – place value – how may dots can you see?
Always have fun!

To round off the week we had a chat about what jobs the children would like to do when they grow up?
So many amazing talents out there-we love it!

The lady who looks after the goats was very sad as the bridge for the goats had been washed away in the flooding! She could not see the goats so we decided that we would build a new bridge for her to let her visit the goats.
We had lots of ideas about the types of jobs that would need to be done to build a bridge and came up with these:
